Signs From My Guides

I was asked recently to do a television interview about my experiences as a medium.  The reporter thought it would be an inspiring story if I spoke about how my husband's shooting and near death forced me to realize what was really important in life and that's how I came to embrace my intuitive abilities.  I thought it was a great idea and after talking to her at length, I realized that she was very open to what I did and was not going to try to denounce me or anything like that.  There were just a few problems.  For one, I'm terrified of being on TV.  My husband and I have been interviewed several times to discuss his shooting and recovery and while that was scary, it didn't terrify me because the spotlight wasn't on me.  I'm always happy when the spotlight is most definitely not on me.  But this time the story would be about me and that was scary.  I'm also not crazy about what my hair is doing right now and what would I wear?  Just kidding.  Well, sort of.

Then I was worried about my children.  I don't advertise what I do.  I know, I know.  I have a website, a blog and a podcast but it's all very small and you have to know about me to find those things.  Being on television is for anyone to see, not just people who seek me out.  That's a different ball game.  So the average person at my church or my children's school does not know what I do for a living, and I like it that way.  I do not want them being made fun of.

I polled my friends and family to mixed reactions.  Most were pretty nonchalant about it.  My husband said, "Do it if you want to.  Don't if you feel uncomfortable."  Sounds simple, right?

But it wasn't.  I wanted to do the show because I do think this work is inspiring and life affirming.  But everything else that came with it was too scary.  I just didn't feel ready.  I knew the answer was no, but I hate, hate, hate to disappoint people.  The reporter said she was planning for this story to air during sweeps weeks which meant she'd already gotten it approved by the producer and that they were expecting a lot of interest in the story.  So, I continued to toss and turn.

Finally, I threw my hands up and said to my guides, "Look!  I can't figure this out.  I don't think I should do this, but I feel that I should.  You need to give me an affirmative sign."

The next day when I woke up, I lost my voice.  Gone.  I have a terrible case of laryngitis.  I've had to cancel all my readings for today and tomorrow.  But, really, I just have to laugh.  When my guides give a sign, boy do they give a sign. I had to decline the interview in an email today.

And you know what's really strange?  I kind of like not having a voice for awhile.  My kids have had to figure out their own fights between each other.  My oldest read a book to us at bedtime tonight, and when they talk to me, they whisper just like me.  It's so cute and peaceful too!

  1. Funny thing, I've recently had a case of laryngitis for about a week. Before my loss of voice, I had stated researching crystals and their healing attributes (do to what I've learned from you & the Psychic Teachers podcast). To make a long story short, I obtained several "rocks" from the petrified forest in Arizona. Never thought much of them until as of late. After researching what they maybe thru my crystal books; come to find out one of them is an Andes Opal. This is known as "The Stone of Help." Among it's many attributes, one of them is to treat laryngitis! It opens the throat & heart chakra. Used as an elixir it can cure hoarseness, loss of voice, and help prevent viral infections. I'll tell you something; since I figured out what my Andes Opal was & what it was meant for, I've regained my voice. Strange but true.

I'm just beginning to learn the power of crystals & it truly fascinates me. I'm glad that your guides gave you the answer that you were searching for. I'm sure that you know about this crystal and its attributes. I just wanted to share because this was the first time that I have ever been effected by crystals.

Sorry for my long post; however I do have an inquiry that I would appreciated your expertise upon. I have read about a half a dozen books upon healing crystals, one including "American Indian Secrets of Crystal Healing" by: Bourgault. He states that you must first purify the crystal for 7 days in salt water. Then you must program the crystal with your intentions that are cohesive within the crystals core purpose.(As long as they are intentions to heal, help, & give unconditional love) After meditation, you must cleanse and energize the crystal. A few books have stated that this is the only way to be able to get the full benefits of the crystals.

Would you be kind enough to give me your opinions upon programing crystals? I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks.

  2. Oh wow.

Earlier today, I asked for a sign from everyone I work with who's higher (and higher than that, and way, way higher) than me. On my way to pick up my kids from school, a huge, white heron flew out from some trees, made a circle, and then flew right over my car. Then, when I got home, I thought to myself, "Didn't Samantha say that she will usually see a white bird after praying to Mary?" (Mary has come into my life recently. And thank God. And she was among those I asked..) So, then I came to your page, and the title of your post is, "Signs From My Guides."
I'm just going to take a moment to say a big thank you for the signs we receive! And I hope you feel better soon!!

  3. A. L Rose -- that's a great sign! Thanks for sharing that. Melissa, different crystal people have different opinions on how to properly cleanse and charge a crystal. I have more faith in my crystals. I don't think it takes 7 days of salt water and all the rest to cleanse them. They've been here longer than us. They know what to do :)
